A short story of the rama avatara
In treta yuga, two brothers Ravana and Kumbhakarna performed penance and sought Brahma’s boons. Brahma granted them invincibility and weapons which made them very powerful. Ravana then started to harass common people and the devas. The devas once again beseeched Maha Vishnu to defeat Ravana and save them.
Vishnu then assumed the form of Rama who was born as the eldest prince of Ayodhya to King Dasharatha. Rama grew to be a well rounded person well versed in all forms of knowledge and warfare. He married Sita, the princess of Mithila.
Rama’s stepmother Kaikeyi made him renounce princely comforts and spend 14 years in the forests. Rama, accompanied by Sita and his brother Lakshmana left Ayodhya for an arduous life in the forests of Bharatavarsha.
While in the forest, Ravana who had come to know Sita’s beauty kidnapped her by deceit. Rama met Hanuman and the varanasi, who helped him locate Sita in Lanka.
Rama led the vanara sena in a war against Ravana’s hordes and killed all of them including Ravana and Kumbhakarna and rescued Sita.
