A short story of the krishna avatara
Towards the end of dwapara yuga, Bharatavarsha was ruled by several cruel rulers including Jarasandha, Kamsa, Dantavakra among others. Maha Vishnu took birth as a Yadava prince Krishna and helped destroy all the evil kings of the era, and establish dharma across all the states of Bharata Varsha.
Though Krishna was born to Princess Devaki and Vasudeva, he was shifted to Nanda’s home in Vrundavan and raised by Yashoda. Vasudeva had to carry Krishna to Nanda’s home, to ensure the baby was not killed by Devaki’s brother Kamsa.
Krishna is known for many of his leelas he played throughout his life. Some of them include his childhood encounters with demons like putana, dhenukasura, bakasura, kaliya. He killed his uncle Kamsa, cousin Shishupala who had become evil and were harassing their own subjects.
He helped pandavas regain their kingdom by defeating their cousins – kauravas in the famous mahabharata war at kurukshetra. His Bhagavadgita still guides people in their daily lives to lead a good life.
